Abandoned Factory Luik (Liège) 2023
Winter was over and after the last 2 holiday attempts went wrong, it was time to up my game. This time I wanted to visit an abandoned steel factory in my neighbouring country, Belgium.
I invited 2 friends, packed my gear and took a train down to Luik (Liège).
We managed to get into the factory ground and roamed around. It was very cool to see the insides of a steel factory, all the machines, manuals laying around on the ground. It had a perfect atmosphere of serenity combined with industrial toughness. The below photograph is perhaps the best photograph I have made in my life so far.

After roaming around the factory grounds for some hours it was time to get out of town and into a nearby ''forest''.
We set up camp for the night on a slope of about 20 degrees, which turned into a rough night for all involved.
One friend slept in a hammock, but the trees were not at an ideal distance, so he hung half between and half against a tree. My other friend and I had the issue that our tents slowly drifted down the hill.
I had set up my tent in a way that if I would drift down, it would be against a tree. This worked, but a tree poking in your side when trying to sleep is pretty hard.
After half a night I decided to get out of my tent and sleep with my feet against the tree to stop me from sliding down further.
All in all I had a decent night of sleep and a successful trip!
